Gratitude

I tried something new today. I decided to tell my brain to look for all the things I have to be grateful for and I put on my listening ears. See, usually all I hear is complaining and I make it mean that I'm not doing my job as a mom very well, but today I heard little boys learning how to work out their differences, I heard a little boy who was learning that splashing water out of the tub was maybe not the best choice, I heard all the little acts of kindness between siblings, I watched my three year old be a perfect gentlemen and willingly hold the door open for his mama, I watched my 7 yr old be so responsible and find a fun way to help his younger brothers do what mom asked, I heard little boys share about their days at school, and... I survived the part when it seemed that I was under attack for a few minutes with 4 little boys all talking/screaming/crying at me all at the same time. I also got to look my little men in their eyes and tell them about how much they are loved. This is a pretty magical life I have. Sometimes I forget that. Remember my little boys, you can always choose to be grateful. Even when your world feels like it's falling apart and you feel like you are under attack. I promise that it will change your life for the better.
