Sleeping Children

I love sleeping children. It's almost as fun as when they are awake. I sometimes count the hours til bedtime, but after they are asleep, I miss them. Maybe that's why we have to sleep. To get a break from everyone and everything in order to love them more?? But I really, really love bedtime just the same. It's the time I remember just how much I love them. I think about the funny things they said. Or the sweet hugs and kisses. Or something new they discovered. I try to forget about the crazy things they did that taxed my patience (which usually works when I gaze upon their angelic, sleeping faces...usually). I marvel at the fact that they are in my keeping. I am amazed at how much Heavenly Father has given us by giving us these little ones to raise. Will I teach them right? Will they learn how to gain a testimony? Will they grow to be adults? Will they, will they, will they..... And then I stop... And simply soak up their littleness--their perfectness-- and enjoy the moment. wishing I could keep them little and protected from the world...But, they always wake up older and with new vigor to help me learn more patience.

He fell asleep at 4:30 PM and didn't wake up til 6:30 PM. He stayed awake til 10:30 PM when we found him like this outside our door. Gave us a good chuckle.

Has a full tummy and it was just too much work to keep his eyes open any longer.

He was eating a snack while we brushed James' teeth which didn't take more than a few minutes. Somewhere in that time he finished his snack at the table and we found him like this in his room. I think he was tired. Poor kid. Sorry we didn't get you to bed sooner, but thanks for the giggles. Pretty sure this kid spends more time sleeping on the floor than he does in his own bed.

I call this the 'stink bug' sleeping pose. So cute! I had to wake him up from his nap to get my preschooler. I don't like waking up sleeping babies, but such is life sometimes.
