Some days it feels like I can't wait for bedtime and I feel like we are just existing in this world trying to make it through, and then I look back through my pictures and realize that we are doing far more than merely existing. The mundane things we did or the seemingly insignificant things seem extraordinary and wonderful when captured in a picture and the memories come flooding back. Some pictures help me remember that I in fact survived something that was really hard for me and others help me remember that there is so much to be grateful for. What a magical time to be alive. When we can record our lives through pictures.
Picnic at the park.
These two saw a guy catching fish with just a stick, some fishing line, and a hook. The man was so kind and patient. He let them have the fish and they threw it on the bank for a heron to eat. Crazy!
Going for a nature walk.
Eating trail mix on the only seat they could find. Haha. of course it was in a tree.
Grandma sent us masks. I never thought we'd actually have to use them, but...We have. a few times. And we are ninjas every time we wear them. Boys. They make things fun.
Cute Liam found my free sunglasses and made them his own. Seth and his accomplice (probably Matty) were playing with the camera settings on my phone. I think they probably know how to use it better than I do now.
The neighbor gave these cuties his old tent from when he was a boy. They were so excited to camp in our Florida room. They made it 45 minutes and then they were all back in their own beds. Haha. Maybe next time.
At the beach.
Can't get enough of these curls. This boy loves his daddy. Picks daddy over mommy 9 times out of 10 and mommy thinks that's wonderful!!
Always climbing. I hope he never stops.
Dino museum holding a tail spike from a stegosaurus. Seth is our Dino expert but they all loved seeing the huge creatures.
photo credit goes to Matthew. Not bad for a three year old.
Memorial Day. We took them all to a veteran's monument and taught them a little about why they are free and get to live in this beautiful nation. I hope something stuck.
Always helping me make some sort of mess to eat.
I looked outside one day and saw these two cute boys laughing and giggling together. I'm so glad they are starting to be friends.
Doesn't need words. These boys love their daddy and so do I.
Went swimming at the neighbor's pool. Still can't believe we got such great neighbor's. It's like having family in the next door houses. And little man found the cowboy stuff. His brothers gladly helped him play dress up.
Again with the camera settings. My phone is full of random pictures that kids take while I'm not looking. Some are pretty funny.
Brothers insisted Liam be put in the bunny suit. He's a good sport.
Peach Pie from fresh Georgia peaches. Boys loved pulling the skin from the peaches after they were blanched.
Sew Tuesday projects. Turns out these kids love sewing animals. They are getting pretty good at stuffing them and sewing around them. I may spend just as much time threading needles and getting knots out as we do actually sewing, but hey. We've got to start somewhere. I also have to mention that Heavenly Father does indeed speak to us in our own language and manner. I needed them to work on something fun to stay busy and out of mischief and we needed a break from the mundane. I suggested sewing animals and showed them the materials. They have amazing imaginations and I suddenly felt like I had bit off way more than I could chew and would never ever meet their expectations of what they wanted. I mean we had a limited supply of materials and mama's patience. So after putting myself in time out for a minute to pray and calm down I had the idea to relate this animal project to padawans and Jedis. Star Wars. I guess it's good for something. I asked them if a Jedi started out as a Jedi or if there was some training involved. Then I told them we were padawans at sewing and couldn't use lightsabers yet. Of course they immediately caught on to that idea and once we had expectations back on the level they needed to be on we began a new summer tradition. Every now and then we get a little ambitious in our designs and have to remind each other than we are padawans at sewing. So many fun messes we've made so far and some little animals have come from those messes and hopefully some good lessons and memories. I sure am grateful for the heaven sent idea to start small and talk to these little men in a way they would not only understand, but would also appeal to their likes and interests.
We have 2 blue whales, plesiosaurus, 3 killer whales, manta ray, whale, spinosaurus, whale shark, and a giraffe so far.
We made a water blob. So cheap and easy and I think they had fun.
