Hi all. So sorry that blogposts have been MIA lately. It has been quite busy here at the Bench household. It's too late at night to find pictures to post but I promise they are coming soon. For now you'll just have to be content with 10 Fun Facts :)
1. Had the echosound for baby boy #2 and his heart looks PERFECT!!!! They said his little aorta was beautifully shaped and that everything else looks healthy. We'll have to get an echocardiogram for the little man in the first month he's born just to be sure there aren't any other things that the ultrasound couldn't catch but my mama's intuition is thinking that everything will be healthy and normal. It was so reassuring to see that all is well. And apparently it's really difficult to even pick up on an aortic coarctation via regular ultrasound so the fact that they were able to even catch James' while in utero is a miracle! Heavenly Father sure knew what He was doing prompting us to live all the way across the country an hour away from Yale. There are no accidents.
2. My brother Brian and his cute little family came to visit for a week. SO. MUCH. FUN!!!!! His two little boys are adorable and James LOVED having someone to play with. He woke up every morning saying his cousin's name and hasn't stopped. We saw alligators, went to the beach, ate yummy Brazilian food, and enjoyed every minute. It was so hard to see them go back home. Pretty sure I cried the whole way back to my apartment after dropping them off at the airport. I have an awesome brother and I adore my sister in law. I wish we could visit more often, but I guess I'll just have to be content with skype and phone calls.
3. James is now sleeping in a big boy bed. We got James a toddler bed that we found for an awesome price and it's been sitting in his room for a while. His cousin Kyle got to sleep in it first too. I wasn't planning on moving James into it for about another month or so, but he had other ideas. He started climbing in and out of his pack n play, which wouldn't have been too bad except that he's a daredevil and thinks that diving onto his head is a good idea. Needless to say his mom isn't okay with the potential danger that falling on his head could bring about so we said goodbye to the pack n play and hello to his "new bed." He has done AWESOME at sleeping in his new bed too. He's enjoyed his new found freedom though and likes to get in and out of bed for about an hour before he finally decides to fall asleep. Nap times are kind of a nightmare lately, but I have to keep reminding myself to take it one day at a time, and sometimes one minute at a time. He'll catch on eventually. I am LOVING the fact that when he wakes up in the morning he can just walk to my room rather than calling out for us to get him. He climbs right in bed with me now and we snuggle and listen to primary songs until its time to eat breakfast.
4. Chris just got over having strep throat. Poor guy. I'm grateful for antibiotics when all the natural remedies just aren't enough.
5. Baby #2 didn't want to get his heartbeat listened to today at the doctor appointment. He would kick the doppler every single time it picked up a beat. Does my heart good to feel all those little movements.
6. We still LOVE Florida. Winters are awesome here!!
7. James gives the best back/shoulder rubs. They don't last long, but they sure are fun and they are usually random.
8. We made FOUR batches of strawberry freezer jam and my oh my is it delicious!!! Paired with my new favorite roll recipe (more on that later), it was as good as any dessert.
9. Names are the new thing in our house. When we tell James someone's name he says it over and over and over again. When we go to the store he points to all the women and says, "mommy." I'm trying to get him to say, "lady." but it's a slow process.
10. James knows all of his colors and will now point to things and tell me the color. Such a fun stage.
